LaCrosse -- George Degenhardt, 70, died Friday at the Home State Villa in Hoisington. He was born July 5, 1908 in Pfeifer.

He was a retired Rush County Highway Department employee and was a carpenter. He was a resident here most of his life.

He married Margaret Anna Meier June 10, 1930 in Pfeifer. He was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, LeRoy of Great Bend and Don of Hoisington; one daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Lillian) Weber of Bison; two brothers, Casper of Pfeifer and Bill of Wichita; five sisters, Mrs. Joe (Lena) Befort of Salina, Mrs. John (Rosie) Pfannenstiel, Mrs. Gerome (Clara) Hartman, Mrs. Gabriel (Anna Marie) Zimmerman and Mrs. Isadore (Veronica) Schmidt, all of Hays; and 12 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. Richard Schinstock officiating. Rosary will be at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse. Burial will be in the LaCrosse Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and from 1 until 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
