Clara Hartman, 87, a resident of St. John’s of Hays nursing home, died Saturday, May 6, at St. Anthony’s Hospital.

She was born March 28, 1902 at Pfeifer to John and Margaret (Urban) Degenhardt.

She married Jerome Hartman; he died July 7, 1955. She was a homemakeer and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Leona Beilman and Marie Karlin, both of Hays, and Lucille Newman, Northglenn, Colo.; a brother, Casper Degenhardt, Victoria; two sisters, Anna Marie Zimmerman and Veronica Schmidt, both of Hays; and 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Milner, with Father Carl Kramer officiating; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, followed by a parish wake service at 8 p.m., both at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight and from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the nursing home.
