Pfeifer -- Casper Degenhardt, 91, Pfeifer, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1996, in Hays Medical Center.

Mr. Degenhardt was born Jan. 2, 1904, at Pfeifer and a life-long resident of the area.

He had been a construction worker and farmer. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer.

His wife, Margaret, died in 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Vernon of Clay Center and Kenneth of Hays; four daughters, Viola Fiffe of Loveland, Colo., Cleo Klein and Ruby Antrim, both of Hays, and Sylvia Kruse of Leoville; a sister, Veronica Schmidt of LaCrosse; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer, the Rev. Frank X. Grinko officiating. Burial will be in Holy Gross Cemetery. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Cline's Mortuary of Hays.

Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Charities. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, 22nd and Canterbury, Hays.
