Viola "Effie" Fiffe, 82, of Loveland, passed away on her birthday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Hospice Care Unit at McKee Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 12, 1926, in Pfeifer, Kan., to Casper and Margaret Degenhardt.

On June 15, 1948, Viola married Gerald Fiffe in Salina, Kan. Together they owned and operated several small businesses, the last being Fashion Interiors, a carpet and draperies store located in Loveland, from 1966 to 1989, where she was a talented interior designer.

She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland. She loved to travel and looked forward to retirement but, after being married 43 years, she lost her beloved husband in 1991. A loving wife and mother, Mrs. Fiffe was confined to an assisted living home for the last six years of her life due to Alzheimer's disease. She continued on with her strong work ethic by helping her "Sisters" wherever she could.

The family wishes to express their thanks and love to the ladies of Clare Bridge Cottage in Fort Collins for the care, treatment and love they shared with Effie. Also, a special thank you to the nurses at Hospice of Larimer County Care Center.

Mrs. Fiffe is survived by four sons, Gary Fiffe and wife Renee of Spokane, Wash., Mike Fiffe and wife Julie, Pat Fiffe and Larry Fiffe, all of Loveland; grandchildren, Hayley, Cody, Nicole and Kara; sisters, Cleopha, Ruby and Sylvia; brothers, Vernie and Kenny; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and her extended family at Clare Bridge Cottage.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 3:30 p.m. at Viegut Funeral Home. A reception will follow services at Viegut Reception Center. Viewing Friday 5 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Viegut Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
