Jacob Degenhardt, 83, 2008 Allen St., died Monday night at St. Anthony Hospital.

He was a member of the local VFW and Knights of Columbus, and was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; three sons, Romauld, La Crosse, Jim, Hyattsville, Md., and Francis, Wichita; three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Mary Rose) Mennemeier, O'Fallon, Mo., Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Hommes, Salina, and Mrs. Frank (Bernita) Ginther, Salina; 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Andrew, Brighton, Colo., John, Hays, Casper, Pfeifer, George, La Crosse, and Bill, Wichita; and six sisters, Mrs. Lena Befort, Salina, and Mrs. Eva Pfannenstiel, Mrs. Rose Pfannenstiel, Mrs. Anna Marie Zimmerman, Mrs. Clara Hartman and Mrs. Veronica Schmidt, all of Hays.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 7:30 p.m. Tuesday until time of the service at Brock's North Hill Chapel. Three parish wake services are scheduled for Wednesday. The VFW will hold one at 8 p.m.; Victoria D of I at 8:15 p.m.; and the Knights of Columbus at 8:30 p.m.. All will be held at the chapel.
