La Crosse -- Romuald F. "Ron" Degenhardt, 73, died Tuesday, April 11, at his La Crosse home. He was born Feb. 7, 1922 at Loretta, the son of Jacob and Alice Roth Degenhardt.

He was a 1939 graduate of Bison High School. A longtime area resident, he farmed near Loretta and later moved to La Crosse where he was owner and operator of the Wishborn Cafe for 15 years. He was presently manager of Crossroad Apartments and worked part-time at rick's IGA, both at La Crosse. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse.

On Feb. 7, 1944 he married Hedwig "Hattie" Werth at Loretta. She died Oct. 22, 1983.

Survivors include three sons, Glenn, Lafayette, Colo., Gordon, Kalispell, Mont., and Rod, Longmont, Colo.; two brothers, Frank, Brannson, Mo., and Jim, Hyattsville, Md.; two sisters, Bernita Ginter and Eleanor Hommes, both of Salina; and two grandchildren.

Parish rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Janusek Funeral Home, La Crosse. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, La Crosse, with Father Eugene Kenny presiding. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Cemetery, Schoenchen.
