---Don began working for C. O. Mammels Grocery at the age of 14, and was employed with them for 30 years. He worked in stores in LaCrosse, Larned and Hoisington. In 1985, he changed careers and began working in the oil field as roustabout and production superintendent for Robinwitz Oil Company and most recently Dexxon, Inc.
---A devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Degenhardt is survived by his wife, Angel Degenhardt, of the home; his daughters: Denice and her husband Ray Thorne, Sapulpa, Okla.; Jan and her husband Brad McCool, Cabot, Ark.; Terri and her husband Jeff Pickett, Indianapolis, Ind.; Toni and her husband David Webb, Gardner, Kan.; one sister, Lillian Weber and husband Edwin of Hays; one brother Leroy Degenhardt and wife Marilyn of Great Bend; and ten grandchildren: Peter, Joanna and Nathan McCool; Makiah, Donovan, and Melody Pickett; and Annalee, Tanner, Taylor and Tydus Webb. He was preceeded in death by his parents, one infant brother, Harold; and one infant granddaughter, Rebekah McCool.
---Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hoisington Bible Church with Pastor Dr. Gary E. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery.
