She married Clarence Basgall on June 12, 1934, in Pfeifer. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1989.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Perpetual Adorers, an Associate of the Sisters of St. Agnes, Altar Society Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella, all of Hays.
Survivors include four sons, Alfred "Fritz" Basgall, Denver, Ted Basgall, Hays, Tom Basgall, Salina, and Darrell Basgall and wife, Carelyn, Carrollton, Texas; two daughters, Bernice Herrman and husband, LeRoy, and Lillian "Lil" Basgall, all of Hays; three brothers, John A, Degenhardt, Adolph Degenhardt and Fidelis Degenhardt, all of Hays; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Basgall; three brothers, Walter, Sylvester, and Victor Degenhardt; and a sister, Alvina Bieker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 Wednesday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A Perpetual Adorers/Chaplet of Divine Mercy rosary will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, an Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary will be at 4:30 p.m., a Sisters of St. Agnes service will be at 5 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6 p.m., followed by a vigil at 6:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Masses, the Adoration Chapel or building fund at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
