Fidelis "Dale" Degenhardt, 84, Hays, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Wilson.

He was born July 1, 1929, in Pfeifer to John and Emma (Basgall) Degenhardt.

He married Edna Cantwell on Sept. 22, 1947, in Pfeifer.

He was the service manager for Hartman Oil for many years. He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Marine Corps League, Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Hays; two daughters, Mary Rohr and husband, Larry, and Amy Degenhardt and husband, Ziggy, all of Hays; two brothers, John Degenhardt and Adolph Degenhardt, both of Hays; two grandsons, Austin Rohr and Aaron Rohr; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Victor and Sylvester; and two sisters, Regina Basgall and Alvina Bieker.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer, with military honrs by Hays VFW and Marine Corps League. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
