Marlene Ann Damm, a long time Yuma resident, passed away at the Yuma Life Care Center on March 16, 2012 surrounded by loving friends and family. Marlene was born on November 30, 1935 in Sterling, Colorado to Nick and Betty Degenhart.

Marlene married Herbie Damm September 19, 1953. Their only daughter, Penni, was born May 5, 1955.

She grew up in Yuma and graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1953. Marlene worked many years at the Farmer's State Bank. She was a beautiful seamstress and in later years made custom draperies for Interiors in Yuma. Marlene loved helping others and was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program, she gave wheel chairs rides at the Yuma Life Care Center, visited the residents at Parrish Care weekly, and participated in the marathon for cancer event. She was an avid golfer, loved to travel and work in her yard. Marlene had many friends and loved everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbie, mother and father Nick and Betty Degenhart; sisters; Joyce Stenson and Carolyn Elge; and nephew Garrett Clark.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Penni Mesko and her husband Gary of Reno, Nevada; sisters Nita Kanan of Mesquite, Nevada; Phyllis Clark and husband Tom of Kingwood, Texas; brother Lynn Degenhart of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother-in-laws Jim Stenson of Aurora, Colorado; Ron Elge of Aurora, Nebraska; sister-in-law Beverlee Foster and husband Gene of Seattle, Washington along with three aunts and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Yuma United Methodist Church with Reverend Patricia Johnson officiating. Marlene's wishes were for memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Plains. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
