She married James R. Stenson on Aug. 16, 1959, in Yuma.
She moved to Fort Collins in 1965. She lived in Red Feather Lakes for the past four years. She was an elementary school teacher who taught at Irish Elementary in Fort Collins and in Timnath. She also taught in Tacoma, Wash., Haxtun and Fort Morgan. She loved to read, hike, travel and make pine needle baskets. She was a member of the Fort Collins Country Club Ladies Golf Association and Phi Delta Kappa.
Survivors include her husband her mother, Elizabeth Degenhart of Fort Collins one son, Daniel Stenson and his wife, Susan, of Tempe, Ariz. one daughter, Nikki Powell of Westminster one brother, Lynn Degenhart, of Albuquerque, N.M. four sisters, Phyllis Clark, of Kingwood, Texas, Marlene Damm, of Yuma, Carolee Elge, of Aurora, Neb., and Nita Kanan of Mesquite, Nev. and two grandchildren, Bobby and Alaina Stenson of Tempe.
She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Nobuko Miyake-Stoner will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County and the Wild Bear Center of Nature Discovery in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
