John J. Pfannenstiel, 74, 1402 Fort, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Anthony Hospital. He was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Ellis County.

Pfannenstiel is survived by his widow, Rose; five sons, Edwin, San Diego, Calif.; Edward, Littleton, Colo.; Art and Vern, both of Hays; four daughters, Mrs. William (Leona) Befort, Antonino; Mrs. Joe (Irene) Rome, Arvada, Colo.; Mrs. Nick N. (Virginia) Pfannenstiel, and Mrs. Bal (Helen) Younger, both of Hays; 36 grandchildren; a brother, Joe, Hays; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Leiker, Ness City.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Brock's North Hill Chapel. The body will lie in state from 7 p.m. tonight until service time at Brock's.
