Search For Russell Lipke's Body Is Still Continuing
A search is still being made for the body of Russell Lipke, 43, who was washed off a pier at the Gary Tin Mill while smelt fishing Friday.
Lipke, who resided on RFD 3, Crown Point, owned and operated the Fran-Dene Inn on U.S. 30, Lake county. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lipke, RFD 2, Valparaiso.
Russell Lipke was born at Vesper, Wis., on Sept. 5, 1914 to William J. and Mae (Zahora) Lipke. He lived in the Porter county area 39 years and was a member of the Valparaiso Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. LaMae Blackman Lipke; three sons, Donald Gene of Merrillville, DeForest and Dennis Russell at home; a daughter, Donna Mae, at home; two brothers, Norman, RFD 3, Valparaiso, Bennett, East Gary; and a sister, Mrs. Garnet St. Clair; and his parents.
Funeral arrangements are being made with the Bartholomew Funeral home, 102 Monroe, but plans are incomplete, pending the finding of the body.

Find Body Of Victim Of Drowning
Russell Lipke Services Are Set For Saturday

Services for Russell Lipke, 43, owner and operator of Fran-Dene Inn on U.S. 30, Lake county, who was drowned last Friday while smelt fishing off a pier at the Gary Tin mill, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bartholomew Funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
Lipke's body was recovered Thursday by two Coast Guard cutter crews from South Chicago.
He had gone fishing with a companion, George Stokes of Hobart. The two men were seen struggling in the water by another fisherman, who reached Stokes, but couldn't get to Lipke.
4 Children Survive
Lipke, who resided on RFD 3, Crown Point, (Ross township), is survived by his widow, Mrs. LaMae (Blackman) Lipke, three sons, Donald Gene, DeForest and Dennis Russell, and one daughter, Donna Mae, all at home.
He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Lipke, RFD 2, Valparaiso, and two brothers, Norman, RFD 3, and Bennett, East Gary. One sister, Mrs. Garnet St. Clair, preceded him in death.
Friends may call this evening at the Bartholomew Funeral home.
