William J. Lipke
William J. Lipke, age 74, a retired farmer, died Monday evening in Porter Memorial hospital after an illness of six months.
He was born in Jefferson, Wis., Aug. 19, 1885, the son of August and Louise (Scherhunt) Lipke. On Oct. 13, 1909, in Vesper, Wis., he married Mae Sylvia Zahora, who survives.
Lipke had resided in Porter county for 42 years, coming from Wisconsin.
Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Norman J., Valparaiso, and Bennett R., East Gary; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Russell W., one daughter, Mrs. Garnett St. Clair; two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bartholomew Funeral home with the Rev. Leonard Fiene, Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran church, East Gary, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
