A retired Hays businessman, Ted Pfannenstiel, 61, 611 E. 15th, died Friday, June 19, at St. Anthony Hospital. He was the owner and operator of Ted's Steak House, 2505 Vine, for 22 years.

He was born Jan. 16, 1920 at Munjor, the son of Mike and Eva (Degenhardt) Pfannenstiel.

He married Rose Mary Kisner on Aug. 5, 1947 at Hays.

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Third Armored Division Association, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Kansas Restaurant Association. He was a Third and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Ron, Burton, Michael, Manila, the Philippines, and Wesley, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Debbie) Fickel, Hays, Chris, of the home; eight brothers, Vic, Eddie, Clarence, Frank, Marvin, all of Hays, Julius, Billings, Mont., Walter, Longmont, Colo., and Paul, Gorham; three sisters, Mrs. Marcella Eickbush, Laramie, Wyo., Mrs. Martina Staab and Mrs. Agnes Miller, both of Hays; and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church; burial with VFW military graveside services in St. Joseph Cemetery. A parish wake will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a K of C rosary at 8 p.m., both at Brock's North Hill Chapel. A fourth Degree Knights honor guard will stand from 7-8 p.m. Sunday, also at Brock's. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Brock's.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
