FRANK KLEIBER

Village Treasurer, Frank Kleiber, died suddenly on the morning of Saturday, July 1st. The cause of death was apoplexy. He had not been seriously ailing was up and about his business as usual the day before and the now grief stricken family was entirely unprepared for the terrible visitation.
Decedent was born in the town of Maple Grove in 1872, and spent his boyhood days on the farm there. In 1897 he was married at Kasson to Frances Pritzl, the loyal and loving wife who now survives him. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Kleiber removed to Thorpe, Wis., where they lived until 1906, when they returned and took up their residence in our city, Mr. Kleiber going into the saloon business. At the spring election he was elected to the office of village treasurer. His church affiliation was catholic and he was an active member of the local branch of Catholic Knights and of the Askeaton camp of Catholic Foresters. He was a man of excellent character and highly esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances. They sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereft widow and family. Only the day before his death he had taken out a new saloon license. Fortunately both husband and wife come of large and well-to-do families, good and kindly people who will see that the widow's pathway will be eased in the future days.
Besides the widow, deceased is survived by three sons, Frank, Clarence and Wilbert, and two daughters, Ella and Monica, all at home. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kleiber also survive. Four brothers, John on the farm, Joseph, proprietor of the Reedsville Roller Mills, Paul at Kasson and Mike, implement dealer in our city, also survive.
The funeral which was one of the largest ever held in Brillion, because of the prominence of the deceased took place in the forenoon on Tuesday, July 4th, services being conducted at St. Mary's church by Rev. Garthus. Burial was in the catholic cemetery of the city. The pall bearers were George Fritsch, Mike Walsh, Henry Koersten, Lewis Rank, John Moser, Albert Rank. Honorary pallbearers were Albert Nagel, Frank Bohman, Jos. Wittman, John Hart, Mike Thierney, John Walsh. In honor of the deceased village official, the flag on the city hall was hoisted to half-mast until noon on the day of the funeral and the Village Board and officials attended the funeral as a body as did also the members of the Foresters and Catholic Knights. The floral offerings were most numerous and beautiful, testifying to the personal regard in which the deceased was held by all who knew him.
