married Louise Pritzl May 4, 1903

The death of Joseph Kleiber, former village assessor and native of this community, was a shocking occurrence to this community, coming as Mr. Kleiber seemed to be enjoying the best of health. Completing his shift at the Brillion Iron works where he had been employed since May, he was about at usual Friday and at no time complained of illness. Calling at the Theodore Eichhorst home on business that evening, he found Mr. Eichhorst absent and was invited to wait for him. He did so, and soon thereafter complained to Mrs. Eichhorst of feeling ill. Before she was able to obtain a glass of water for him, he passed away peacefully.
Mr. Kleiber occupied a prominent place in public life, having been a member of the village board at Reedsville and village assessor during his later residence in Brillion

Mr. Kleiber was born in 1880 in the town of Maple Grove and was married to Miss Louisa Pritzl in 1903. Immediately after his marriage he operated a tavern at Kasson destroyed by fire but was immediately rebuilt, from 1903 to 1910. In 1910 he moved his family to Aniwa where he resided from 1910 to 1914 at which time he took up his abode at Reedsville as a flour mill operator, until 1924 when the family returned to Brillion to make their permanent home.

He was occupied among other activities as a representative of the Appleton Marble and Granite works and conducted a real estate business. He was Brillion village assessor from 1935 to 1939.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Luecker Funeral home, followed by Solemn Requiem High Hass at St. Mary’s Church here, officiated over by the by Rev. Hubert Kleiber of Breen Bay, son of the deceased, and assisted by the Rev. Alfred Pritzl of New Holstein, deacon.
