He was graduated from Dawson County High School, and started working as a well driller in 1936 and also farmed. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving until 1944.
He married Marilee Calk in Miles City on May 5, 1943. They lived in Circle and Wolf Point, before moving to Miles City in 1971 when he retired. He is survived by his widow of Miles City; three sons, Clinton of Wolf Point, Boone of Poplar and Rex, who is in the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; six daughters, Betsy Jueschke of Elko, NV, Patsy and Rita of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Ann Parks and Wanda Rosseland, both of Circle, and Barbara at home; five brothers, Tom, Ted, Derby, Ras and Jeff, all of Bloomfield; three sisters, Sylvia Nelson of Lindsay, Roxie Karls, Molt, and Santa Hrubes of Bloomfield, and six grandchildren.
