Samuel David Whitmer, 81, of Bloomfield, passed away Jan 28, 1963 in Sidney. He was born Dec. 24, 1881, in Mathias, West Virginia. He moved to Beach, ND in 1902 and homesteaded. On Jan 3, 1907, Samuel Whitmer married the bell of the Shenendoah Valley, Clara Belle Hulvey, in Harrisburg, Virginia. In 1920 he moved his family to the Bloomfield area to farm, where he remained until his death.
Mr. Whitmer was preceded in death by his wife, in 1953, and two sons, McKinley and Kermit.
Survivors are six sons, Boone of Wolf Point, Tom, Ted, Derby, Ras and Jeff, all of Bloomfield; three daughters, Sylvia Nelson, Lindsay, Roxie Karls of Molt, and Santa Hrubes of Bloomfield; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Ritchey of Broadway, Virginia, and one brother, Lemuel Whitmer of Glendive. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren
