Gabriel Stegman, son of Martin and Mary Stegman, was born on Nov. 3, 1915 at Pfeifer, Kansas, and died on Oct. 30, 1980 at the Ashland District Hospital at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 17 days.
As an infant, Gabe came with his parents to a farm south of Sitka in 1916.
On Sept. 12, 1940, Gabe and Thelma Dome were united in holy matrimony at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sitka, Kan. To this union five children were born.
Gabe had lived and farmed in the Clark County area all of his life.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, Thelma of Ashland; one son, Dennis Stegman of Ft. Supply, Okla.; four daughters, Mrs. Duane (Marilyn) Dorsey of Las Cruces, N. Mex.; Mrs. Nader (Barbara) Sarikhani, Lawrence, Ala.; Mrs. Timothy (Kris) Quint, Pratt, Kan.; and Ronda Stegman of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Pete Stegman, Ashland; Richard Stegman, Lyons, Kan. [omitted Henry Stegman]; eight grand- children, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Rosary was held Sunday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Myatt Funeral Home Chapel. Mass was held Monday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ashland. Father John Maes officiated. Myatt Funeral Home of Ashland was in charge of arrangements.
