Alice Biro Seman, our loving mother, passed on to the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, in Federal Way, Washington. Daughter of Stephen J. and Emma Vorum Biro, she was born April 18, 1927, in Beaver Falls, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emil L. Seman and her sister, Irene Mondell.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine A. Brown and her husband, Rev. Dr. Curtiss L., Venice, FL and Karen S. Madden and her husband, Stephen, Kent, WA; grandchildren, James E. Berk, Jr. and wife, Debbie and Sara A. Madden, as well as great-grandchildren, Miranda K. and Logan J. Berk. She will be missed by her nephews, Jack (Kathy), Tom (Debbie) and Tim (Daisy) Mondell and their families, and her brother, Stephen Biro.
Alice worked at the College Hill 5&10 and Murphy's 5&10. Alice was a cheerleader and majorette at Beaver Falls High School graduating in 1945. She was a retired Bell Telephone operator and worked at King's, Gerson's and Allen's Jewelry stores and Morrow Motors. Alice earned a degree from the Modern School of Practical Nursing in the 60s. She belonged to the Christian Mothers, Rosary Society and prayer group at St. Ladislaus and Christ the Divine Teacher Churches. She loved to sing and was a member of the choir at both churches. Alice was a member of two bowling leagues and Curves.
Alice will be missed by her longtime friends in Beaver Falls and her new friends in Kent, WA. She was always first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Friends will be received today, Aug. 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, www.luttonfuneralhome.com, where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Monica of Chippewa.
Interment will follow in Beaver Falls Cemetery.
The family is requesting that donations be made to either St. Monica Parish Share or to the Salvation Army.
