Mrs. Catherine Wilson, widow of William W. Wilson, on-time Plainfield councilman, died at her home, 12 Clinton Avenue, last evening (September 4, 1953). Her age was 95.
The Wilsons came to Plainfield from New Brunswick in 1887 and settled in the West End, then still largely undeveloped. Mr. Wilson served the Plainfield Common Council two terms and for many years, until his death in 1926, owned a grocery and butcher shop at 816 W. Third Street. The couple was married in St. Peter's Church, New Brunswick, July 21, 1886.
Mrs. Wilson was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its Rosary Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Mary, at home; three sons, Walter of 15 Clinton Avenue, John, at home and detective Leo A. Wilson of 39 Emma street; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday, May 12th, at 8:30 a.m. from the Higgins "Home for Funerals" to St. Mary's Church where a Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
