Marcus A. Degenhart, 85, of Brighton, a farmer, died Saturday in Thornton. Mass of Christian Burial was said Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Brighton. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.

He was born April 16, 1916, in Ellis, Kan. On Aug. 29, 1939, he married Sophia S. Bollig in Brighton.

He owned and operated cattle and wheat farms east and west of Brighton. He also helped to operate Oil and Gas for Natural Resources Inc. His interests included big-game hunting, fishing, traveling, trips to Las Vegas and riding horses.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Ronald, Brighton; a daughter, Carolyn List, Foxfield; two sisters, Mildred Lozinski, Green Valley, Ariz., and Irene Hoffman, Las Vegas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
