Writer. Born in New York City, he was an author best remembered for his novels “Portrait of Jennie” and “The Bishop’s Wife” which both was the story for feature films. Educated at Harvard University, he first wrote poems for newspapers before devoting his time exclusively to writing. He was the author of over fifty volumes of novels, poetry and plays. His works included “One More Spring”, “Wake Up and Dream”, “The Enchanted Voyage” and “Color of Evening”. Five of his novels have been made into films and have won a total of twelve Oscars. He died at age 91 in Los Angeles, California.
