Janet McMillen Tenney, 90, died yesterday at the Orleans Convalescent and Retirement Center, where she had resided since September 1998.

She was the wife of the late George C. Tenney, who died in 1997. She was also the former wife of Walter A. Bingham, Robert Nathan and the late Howard Huston.

Mrs. Tenney first came to the Cape as a summer resident of Truro in 1939. She lived permanently in Truro from 1955 through 1976 and was active in the cultural and social life of the town. Mrs. Tenney managed the community-based fund raising for the restoration of the Congregational Church of Truro in the 1950s, and was in charge of numerous restoration details, including seeking out the exact wallpaper and old glass that was used when the church was erected in 1827.

She married Mr. Tenney in 1959 and they lived in Truro until moving to Florida in 1976. Mrs. Tenney lived in Tampa, Fort Myers and Sanibel, Fla., before returning to the Cape in 1998.

She is survived by a son, Walter A. Bingham Jr. of Truro; a daughter, Frances B. Kerr of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
