John P. Deganhart,83, died Monday, January 21,2008 at the Valley Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan. John was born November 16, 1924 in Sterling, Colorado to Francis and Mary (Sewald) Deganhart. He married Elizabeth M. Carstens on March 31, 1951 in Curtis, Nebraska. They moved to Morgan County in 1965 from the Sterling. John was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling. He served his country in the United States Army and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. John enjoyed reading, traveling and taking care of his vegetable garden. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth of Weldona, three sons, John Deganhart Jr. of Castle Rock, Tom Deganhart and Jim Deganhart both of Weldona, one daughter, Mary E. Deganhart of Ridgeway, two brothers, Lawrence Degenhart of Penrose and Jack Degenhart of Ft. Morgan, two sisters, Rosemary Schlenz of Sterling and Gertrude Bayley also of Sterling and nine grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Richard Deganhart, one brother, Frank Degenhart and one sister, Helen Goering. There will be a Rosary Vigil at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Helena Catholic Church in Ft. Morgan. Services will conclude at the Church. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Sterling at a later date. Friends may make memorial gifts in John's name in care of the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary. Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft.
