Alice Pfannenstiel, 87, Hays, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. She was born April 12, 1919, at Loretto to John and Mary (Degenhardt) Basgall.

She married Aloys "Nick" Pfannenstiel on Aug. 18, 1936, at Munjor. He died Sept. 20, 1991.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society Christian Mothers.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Ferland and her husband, Alcid, Hays, Doris Ferland and her husband, Gilbert, Hays, and Agnes Mendenhall and her husband, Arnold, Hickman, Neb.; a brother, Edward Basgall, LaCrosse; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Ferland.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. An Altar Society Christian Mother rosary will be at 5 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to Hays Good Samaritan Center, Hospice of Hays Medical Center, or for masses.
