Luther G. Horton

Mr. Luther Horton, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Lake City Florida. He was born February 20, 1920, in Winchester, Kentucky, the son of the late Zack A. Horton and Mildred Osborne. Mr. Horton was a World War II Veteran with a rank of Sgt., Crew Chief of a P51 Mustang. He was also a pilot with the rank of Captain in the Civil Air Patrol in Kentucky and Florida. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

He is survived by wife Marie Horton, son John A. Horton, two brothers, Eugene Horton (Stanley) and Buford Horton (Thelma), sister Kathleen Chambers (Joe) and three grandchildren. Mr. Horton had three step-children, Joyce Brown, Laurie Youngblood (Beverly), Ronnie Youngblood (Peggy) all of Tallahassee.

Mr. Horton was preceded in death by wife Flossie Horton and a daughter, Sherry Padgett. A member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church, Mr. Horton will be laid to rest in his hometown of Winchester Kentucky.
