She married Lester Burgardt on Oct. 21, 1946. He preceded her in death July 21, 1999. She later married Robert E. Harris Aug. 29, 2006.
She was the first manager at Maurices in The Mall for 30-plus years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lester Burgardt and wife, Carol, WaKeeney, and Dennis Burgardt and wife, Jan, Great Bend; three daughters, LeeAnn Zielinski and husband, Dave, Port St. Lucie, Fla., Esther Schmidt and husband, Tim, Hays, and Linda Schmidt and husband, Kevin, Bradenton, Fla.; her husband; two brothers, FM Gervase Degenhardt, Pittsburgh, and Martin Degenhardt, Gautier, Miss.; three sisters, Verna Schumacher and Joyce Pfeifer, both of Hays, and Veronica Ditto, Everman, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Viola Sack & Delores Herman.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, both at Brock's North Hill Funeral Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Hays Good Samaritan Center in care of the funeral home.
