Mrs. Ludwig Wolter Passes to Beyond Highly Respected Resident Died at Her Home in This City on Thanksgiving Night. Invalid for Years. The death of Mrs. Ludwig Wolter, a respected old resident of this city and county for a period of forty-two years occurred at her home on North street in this city on Thanksgiving night at a quarter to eleven o'clock. The deceased had been an invalid for many years and for the past ten years had been confined to her bed. She was afflicted with inflammatory rheumatism. The maiden name of the deceased was Miss Fredericka Lohrens, and she was born in Mecklenberg-Schwerien, Germany, on Sept. 15, 1834. In 1854 she came to this country with a sister and with the family of her future husband. They settled in Milwaukee, Wis. She resided there and at Pontiac, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. She was married at Milwaukee in 1856 to Ludwig Wolter. Coming to this state the couple lived for a year near Owatonna, and then at Meriden, and 42 years ago came to this county. They settled on a farm in Iosco, now occupied by their son, Albert Wolter, and lived there for twenty years. Twenty-two years ago they moved to this city, which has since been their home. The deceased is survived by her aged husband and ten children, Albert Wolter of Iosco, Mrs. A. F. Wendland of Paynesville, Mrs. Ida Frederick of Wilson, Kansas, William Wolter of Iosco, Mrs. Paul Kanne of Lemmon, S. D., Mrs. Henry Kanne, Mrs. August Kanne and Mrs. Ernest Kanne of Waterville, Mrs. Henry Fell of Iosco and Mrs. Lydia Isker of Winnebago. All but Mrs. Ida Frederick were present at the funeral. Two children, Louis and Ella are deceased. Mrs. Wolter is also survived by a brother, Christian Lohrens of Hot Springs, S. D., and by 52 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the house, Rev. Siebold, pastor of the Evangelical church and Rev. Baumgartner, pastor of the German M. E. Church officiating, and at 1:30 o'clock from the Evangelical church where a sermon in German was preached by Rev. Siebold, and one in English by Rev. George Stowe. Interment was made in Woodville cemetery. The deceased was a consistent member of the Evangelical church. She was an excellent woman, whose life was an inspiration to those who knew her during her long residence in this county, May she rest in peace.

Grandma Wolter Called
After an illness of ten years' duration, borne with patience and fortitude, Mrs. Ludwig Wolter passed away last Thursday night at her home on North street. She appeared to be as well as usual until about eight o'clock Thursday evening when she became seriously ill. She soon lapsed into unconsciousness and passed away at eleven p. m.
Friederike Lorenz was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, on Sept. 15, 1834. She came to America in 1854 and located in Milwaukee where, in 1856 she was married to Ludwig Wolter. In 1864 the family moved to Minnesota and located on a farm near Meriden, where they lived for 10 years. They then moved to Iosco township, where they lived for 20 years. In 1894, Mr. and Mrs. Wolter moved to this city, which has since been their home.
Deceased was the mother of 12 children, 10 of whom survive her. They are: Mrs. A. F. Wendland of Paynesville; Mrs. Ida Frederick of Wilson, Kans.; Mrs. Paul Kanne of Lemmon, D. S.; Mrs. Henry Fell of Iosco; Mrs. August Kanne, Mrs. Henry Kanne and Mrs. Ernest Kanne of Waterville; and Mrs. Lydia Isker of this city. She is also survived by her husband, 52 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the German Evangelical church. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. H. Siebold, assisted by Rev. Geo. Stowe. The pall bearers were six grandsons of the deceased. All the children but Mrs. Frederick were present and old neighbors and friends came in large numbers to pay their last tribute of respect to one they held in high esteem. The burial was in Woodville cemetery.
The passing of Mrs. Wolter removes another of those sturdy kindly pioneer women to whom the present generation owes so much. Her memory will long be cherished by all who knew her and the sympathy of all goes out to the aged husband in the great loss which he has sustained.
