William August Wolter, 91, of 306 4th Ave., N. W., died at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, September 8 at his home. After being confined to bed for the past six years and an increased illness of three days, his death was caused by complications of old age. He had suffered from arthritis for the past 55 years. Mr. Wolter was born July 17, 1863, at Meriden, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Wolter. As a boy he moved to Iosco with his parents and there attended the public school and later went away to college for a short time. His marriage to Augusta Fell of Iosco took place May 31, 1894 at the Methodist church, Waseca, with Rev. Rathlee officiating. Their early years they spent on the groom's farm and in 1911 because of ill health, they moved to Waseca for a short time and then returned to the farm again. Thirty years ago they retired and moved to Waseca to their present home. Mr. and Mrs. Wolter had the privilege of not only celebrating their 50th anniversary, but also their 55th and 59th anniversaries. The latter took place May 31, of this year. A member of the Salem Evangelical United Brethren church, he was at one time treasurer of the Iosco town board, also cleric and director of the school district and a member of the Iosco Fire Insurance Company Board. Surviving are his wife, three sons and four daughters: Roy and Clarence, Waseca; Harvey, Owatonna; Mrs. George (Luella) Draheim, Mrs. James (Lillian) Foss, Mrs. George (Grace) Larson, all of Waseca and Mrs. Fred (Delores) Kaiser of Blue Earth; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother, six sisters and the parents preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a. m. from the Peterson chapel and at 2 p. m. from the Evangelical United Brethren church. Rev. Ezra Budke officiated and interment was in Woodville cemetery.
