Daughter of the owner of Lamar's Exchange Hotel, William Sutherland and his wife Permelia. Her first name has also been spelled variously Urilla, Aurilla, and Rilla. Married Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp (1848-1929) in Lamar, Missouri, on January 16, 1870. Died sometime in the fall of 1870. Cause of death possibly typhus. Buried in Lamar's only cemetery in 1870, known today as the East Side Cemetery. A crude stone with cross was made by a cousin, Everett Earp, and placed on her grave sometime prior to Everett's death in 1956. There is no known authentic photograph of Arella Sutherland Earp.
