Poland - Richard Dallas Garman, 69, of Renwick Drive, died Tuesday at the Greenbriar Healthcare Center. He was born April 6, 1933 in Youngstown, a son of Dallas and Christine Schink Garman. He was raised in Vienna and moved to Struthers in 1960 and Poland in 1964.
A 1951 graduate of Vienna High School, Mr Garman attended Kent State University, where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He was a chemist at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co and J&L Specialty Steel in Midland, PA, retiring in 1996 after 32 years of service. He was a US Army veteran, having served from 1956 to 1962, and was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church, where he attended the Gioras Sunday school class. He was a member of the American Legion Post No 15 in Poland and a former member of the Duck and Dive Square Dance Club and the Warren Gun Club.
Mr Garman leaves his wife the former Martha Anderson, whom he married Oct 15, 1960; a daughter and son in law,of Poland; a son and daughter in law,of Vienna; three grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8pm Friday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral home, where there will be funeral services at 1 pm Saturday. Memorial tributes may be made to the Struthers Presbyterian Church Capital Improvement Fund, 110 Poland Ave, Struthers, OH 44471.
