Christian Riemenschneider was born in Brunswick, Germany, June 4, 1832, and there he grew to manhood, emigrating to America in 1855. He came to State Center township, this county, in 1863, and for many years was regarded as one of the successful farmers of the county and a man of exemplary character. His death occurred on June 13, 1885. He married Catherine Eisenmenger, who was born in Germany, May 10, 1838; there she grew to womanhood and emigrated to America in 1857. These parents were married at Sandwich, Illinois, April 17, 1860, and the following children were born to them: Alfred, born in Illinois, September 17, 1860, is residing on the home farm; Clara, born in Illinois, February 8, 1862, died in State Center township, September 17, 1866; Henry C. was the first one of the family born in State Center township, this county; George B., born October 5, 1865, of State Center township ; Clara, born February 8, 1867, died August 17, 1876; Emma, born August 27, 1868, is living at home with her mother; Anna, born June 1, 1870, is living on the home farm; Wilbur, born February 4, 1872, lives on the home farm; Charles, born September 8, 1873, died in 1874; Edward, born May 8, 1875, also lives on the home farm; John, born August 7, 1877, died January 26, 1878; Laura Hart, born March 4, 1881, is living in State Center township.
