Mass of Christian burial for F. J. "Lefty" Unrein of 1424 Adams Circle will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday from St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Rev. James E. Kane and Rev. Kenneth Koehler the celebrants.
Military graveside rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3541, Sterling and burial will follow in Riverside cemetery.
Scripture rosary services will be conducted 7:30 p.m., Friday at the Chaney Walters Funeral Home.
Mr. Unrein, 50, died Wednesday in a Sterling hospital.
He was born May 19, 1929, in Sterling, the son of Chris and Margaret Degenhart Unrein.
Mr. Unrein received his education at St. Anthony's. During his high school career, Mr. Unrein was active in athletics and for many years participated in baseball and softball programs conducted in Sterling.
While attending school he worked at Hiskey's Glass Shop. He graduated from St. Anthony's High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948, served overseas during the Korean conflict and was discharged from active duty in 1952. He returned to Sterling and resumed working at Hiskey's and later entered into partnership with Myrle R. Castor. Mr. Unrein became sole owner and operator of the firm when he purchased the Castor half of the business in 1972. Mr. Unrein married Barbara J. Sewald Jan. 26, 1952 in Sterling.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Sterling B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1336, Sterling American Legion Post No. 20, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3541, Sterling and Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Barbara J. Unrein of Sterling; three sons, Frank Unrein and Tim Unrein, both of Sterling and John Unrein of Westminister; a brother, Elmer A. Unrein of Mountain Home, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Norma Barton of Sterling and three grandchildren.
Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
