Italian stage, screen and television actor.
Born Francesco Fabbrizzi. He briefly worked as a fashion model in Milan before starting to work in cabaret as one of Wanda Osiris's male partners. He was also employed as an actor for the highly popular photo stories (Fotoromanzi) during that period. On the stage from 1947 on, he made his film debut in 1950 and attracted attention a few years later in Federico Fellini's "I Vitelloni" (1953). He subsequently played leads and supporting roles in many European productions. Credits include "Cristo è passato sull'aia" (1953), "Nel gorgo del peccato/Eternal Song of Love" (1954), "Il bidone" (1955, dir. Fellini), "Le notti di Cabiria" (1957, dir. Fellini), "Il moralista/The Moralist" (1959), "Un maledetto imbroglio/The Facts of Murder" (1959, dir. Pietro Germi), "Das Todesauge von Ceylon/Storm Over Ceylon" (1963), "Il comandante/The Commandant" (1963), "Morte a Venezia/Death in Venice" (1970, dir. Visconti), "Ginger e Fred" (1985, dir. Fellini) and "Il piccolo diavolo" (1988, dir. Roberto Benigni). He died of cancer.
