Padre Vincenzo Rino Succi, age 88, of Yeşilköy, mahalle of Bakırköy, Istanbul, Turkey, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Infirmary of the Capuchin Fathers in Reggio Emilia (RE), Emilia-Romagna. He was born on June 21, 1927 in Verica, frazione of Pavullo nel Frignano (MO), Emilia-Romagna.

In the early 1950s he taught French in the seventh grade at the seraphic seminary of Scandiano (RE). He constituted a spiritual point of reference for many boys of the boarding school until their departure for San Martino in Rio (RE), where they would continue their studies in the third and fourth classes of the gymnasium. He was the confidant and confessor of many boys who were on their way to religious life and the priesthood. He later left as a missionary for Turkey, then the only foreign nation where the Emilian Capuchin Fathers carried out a mission. His mission began in 1955 in Smyrna, where he immediately founded male and female associations for boys and girls and, the following year, the Italian-Turkish Cultural Center of Friendship, where he taught the Italian language for fifteen years. His was a full life in which he held numerous positions of service both in the religious order and in the diocese, including the role of parish priest of Izmir and assistant pastor at Yesilköy in Istanbul.
