Mária and Ilona Gacsályi, twin daughters of József Gacsályi (1818-1866) and Erzsébet Nyitrai (1822- ), were born on Aug 22, 1866 in Czégény, a small village in present day Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in northeast Hungary. Czégény has since been combined with Dányád and is now called Cégénydányád. On May 31, 1887 she married Sámuel Bunna, son of Zsigmond Bunna (1819-1892) and Klára Korponai (1825-1880), in Dányád. They had eight children born in Hungary between 1887 and 1906, four of which survived to adulthood; László (1889), Lajos (1896), Bertalan (1898) and James (1906).
Sámuel emigrated to America on April 22, 1910. On Oct 21, 1910 Mária arrived in the U.S. to join her husband Sámuel at 9323 Ridgeland Ave, Chicago, IL. They subsequently moved to Springdale, Allegheny County. Mária's sister Ilona and all four of Mária's surviving children emigrated to the U.S.
On Dec 27, 1926 Mária died in Springdale. Her husband Sámuel returned to Hungary. He died in Cégénydányád on Dec 5, 1950.
Sámuel emigrated to America on April 22, 1910. On Oct 21, 1910 Mária arrived in the U.S. to join her husband Sámuel at 9323 Ridgeland Ave, Chicago, IL. They subsequently moved to Springdale, Allegheny County. Mária's sister Ilona and all four of Mária's surviving children emigrated to the U.S.
