Actress. She was an American actress of the silent screen era of the 1910s and 20s. Born Olive Beech Francies, as a petite, porcelain-skinned, red-haired, blue-eyed beauty, she was the youngest daughter of a stock broker, William Francies and his English bride, Nellie. She was educated in schools in Newark, New Jersey. After being a discovery of film pioneer D.W. Griffith, her acting career started in 1917, continuing through 1926 with over 25 movies. Working for several film studios, she performed in the films "The Gay Lord Quex" and "Too Much Johnson" in 1919 and "Tess of the Storm Country" in 1922. She married actor Lloyd Hughes on June 30, 1921. The couple had a son and a daughter. She is not the same actress as the Gloria Hope from the 1940s.
