Japanese architect. Building structure engineer and building structure scholar. First-class architect. Was described as "the father of earthquake-resistant structure". He has also designed many steel towers such as the Nagoya TV Tower and Tokyo Tower, and is also called "Doctor of Tower." He has served as the chairman of the Japan Institute of Architecture and chairman of the Japan Earthquake Engineering Promotion Association.
