Samuel was Canon of Windsor, Dean of the Catherdral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rochester , head Chaplain to Queen Anne and preceptor of the royal heir apparent. He was appointed Tutor to the infant Duke of Gloucester. Samuel, his wife and at least two daughters are buried in the Chapel or the grounds. His remains have been moved a few times over the centuries due to remodeling and higher classes of people being buried. His current location is unknown to this writer. Samuel was the son of Daniel Prat of West Ham, Essex.Dean of Rochester.
