Actress. She was best known to television viewers as the matriarch 'Caroline Brady' on the popular daytime soap opera "Days of Our Lives" from 1983 to 2017. Born Margaret Ann McCay, she attended Barnard College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University. She, along with her mother, also ran her father's construction company after her father's passing. She started studying acting after graduating from college and made her acting debut in 1949 on the television series "Kraft Theatre". Besides "Days of Our Lives", she went on to appear in numerous television series during her career such as "The Adventures of Jim Bowie," "Maverick," "Hawaiian Eye," "The Young Marrieds," "The F.B.I.," "General Hospital," "Barnaby Jones," "How the West Was Won," "Lou Grant," "Cagney & Lacey," "The Trials of Rosie O'Neill," and "Profiler". She also appeared in such films as "Lad: A Dog" (1962), "Promises in the Dark" (1979), "Bustin' Loose" (1982), and "Daddy's Girl" (1996). She earned numerous award nominations mostly for her performances on "Days of Our Lives" and received an Emmy for her guest performance on "The Trials of Rosie O'Neill" in 1991. She passed away weeks after her "Days of Our Lives" leading man Frank Parker passed away.
