Champion motorcycle racer and sportscar driver. Benoit Nicolas Musy was born in Fribourg, Switzerland, the son of Dr Jean-Marie Musy the Swiss President (1925-30). He became a pilot in the Swiss Air Force and one of their very first parachutists when he logged over 1700 landings. In 1944 he accompanied his father into Germany to participate in negotiations to liberate 1200 prisoners fro German concentration camps. From 1947 to 1953 he became a professional motorcycle racer, racing Moto Guzzis, when he won the Swiss 250cc and 500cc Championships six times. In 1954 he switched to four wheels purchasing a Maserati A6-GCS from the Italian factory. In 1955 after many wins in international sportscar races in Maserati 150S and 200S cars, he bought a Maserati 300S. Unfortunately in 1956 he was killed at the banked Montlhery circuit near Paris when travelling at high speed, the steering broke whilst on the banking and he couldn't prevent the car plummeting over the edge onto a road below.
