Billy Carl “Bill” Weatherford, 81, South Virginia Street, died at 5 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at his home following a long illness. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home with Greg Giltner officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A native of Sandoval, Ill., he was born March 20, 1928, the son of the late Carl Marion and Ethel Garren Weatherford. His wife, Jackalyn Adams Weatherford, died in 2008. He was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, was involved with carpentry and construction and was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and had also served in the Merchant Marines. Survivors include two sons, Charles Weatherford, Madisonville, Dr. David Weatherford, Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Bob Weatherford, Woodlawn, Ill.; four sisters, Beverly Carnahan, Louisville, Ga., Marilyn Milam, Apopka, Fla., Carolyn Huston, Palm Harbor, Fla., Juanita Harvey, Bloomington, Ill.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
