Thomas Walter Kloberdanz, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the age of 60. Tom was born to Joseph and Laura Kloberdanz on August 12, 1948 in Calgary, AB, the fifth of nine children.
In 1961 at the age of 13, Tom moved with his family to Grande Prairie from their farmland in Water Valley, AB. After graduating from the Composite High School in 1967, Tom became a professional drywall taper and continued this career until 1970 when he and his brothers started the local business Klean Rite Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning.
In 2001 Tom and his children embarked on a new adventure together and started their own business known as Kleen Tech Ltd. They continued operating Kleen Tech Ltd. until August 2008 when the business was then sold and Tom retired.
Tom married Joyce Mach on October 23, 1971. Together they had three wonderful children, Jason, Trina and Tyler.
He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed entertaining and always had guests over to share in his fabulous cooking. Tom also really enjoyed gardening, playing cards and pool, golfing and listening to his Elvis collection. He volunteered his time for many years with the Lions Breakfast Club and had also served on the Credit Union Board of Directors.
Tom warmed his family's hearts with his playfulness and laughter. He was a loyal family man and would do anything for anyone. He will be sadly missed.
Tom is survived by his three loving children: son Jason (Loralee) Kloberdanz, daughter Trina (Quintin) Williams, and son Tyler Kloberdanz (Bailey) and their mother Joyce; two granddaughters (his little angels) Hayden and Jaylee all of Grande Prairie, AB; his mother Laura Kloberdanz, his brothers Leo Kloberdanz, Sam (Donna) Kloberdanz, his sisters, Theresa Regnier, Susan (Bernie) L'Hirondelle, Blondie (Gordon) Weldon, Irene Baloi, Clara (Phil) Leroux, Edith (Willy) Kloberdanz-Dyck, and numerous nieces and nephews that were all very special to him.
Tom was predeceased by his father Joseph in 1981.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.
