Montie was born September 27, 1931 in Bendavis, MO to Cyrus John Baty and Mary (Atchley) Baty, 9th of 16 children. Moved to Medicine Lodge in 1946. Graduated Medicine Lodge High School in 1949. Married Georgia Heydenreich Febuary 17, 1950. They had 4 children from this union, Mike, Terry, Debbie and Doug.
Montie worked for the Kansas Department of Transporation for 42 years. He retired in 1996 as District Engineer at Garden City, KS. He earned his engineer's certificate from Wichita State after attending night school for 14 years becoming an engineer for the State.
Montie was a avid outdoors person. He hunted, camped and fished all of his life.
He was a devout christian and a member Gideons International. His faith and family were foremost in his life. In every town he lived he tried to be a civil servant and to add to the community through church, Boy Scouts, Planning Commissions and other volunteer work.
Montie and Georgia moved back to Medicine Lodge in 2000. They resided there at the time of Montie's death
Funeral services were Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Tom Walters and Pastor Doug Baty officiating. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS.
