Helen Louise (Wheeler) Riddle was born October 16, 1904 in Bloomington, Indiana to George and Emma Lotta (Allen) Wheeler. At 51, she departed this life March 11, 1956 in Los Angeles, California.

Helen was the first Black female graduate of the University of Southern California's (USC) Law School and a founding member of the USC chapter (Sigma) of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority. She also was the uncredited author of the USC Fight Song.

Helen united in Holy matrimony with John Thomas Riddle, and to their union four children were born: Joanne, John Jr, Paul, and Judith.
