Daughter of Robert Sidney Asher and Mary "Polly" Morgan.

Her father was first married to Mary 'Polly' Sizemore who died in 1858 and he married Polly Morgan, Mar 2, 1862 Clay, KY 


Robert Asher 66 a farmer and his new wife Polly 24 appear on the 1870 census, Clay, KY, with their children Lucy 6, Emily 4 and Ulysses 2.


Her parents had two other children after 1870, Jordan born February 6, 1872 and Katherine "Katie" born May 2, 1877, less than a month after her father died. 

In 1880, Katie/Catie age 4, was living with her mother, widow Pollie Asher 30 listed as a servant with family of William and Vina Hall, Leslie County, KY.


Katie married Robert McCreary, Jan 31, 1898, Clay County, KY.


Kate McCreary 23 and husband Robert 24 a farmer born Mar 1874 appear on the 1900 census, Manchester, Clay, KY, with her widowed mother Polly Asher though her ages is given as 47 born July 1852.

They reside nearby her husband Robert's parents Hiram and Sophia McCreary family farm, record indicates they had 12 children, 11 living.


Katie 30 and R.D. McCreary 34 a farmer, are listed on the 1910 census, Clay, KY with children Taylor 9, Otis 7, Robert 5, Eva S 3, Lowly 5 mons (Lola), and Katie's mother Polly Asher 60. This record indicates they were married 11 years, had 5 children, 5 living.

By the 1920 census, they have moved to South Corbin, Whitley County, KY Katie 42 and Robert D 44 a teamster for coal hauling, and with their children Taylor 18, Otis 16, Robert D 14, Eva S 12, Lola S 10, Mary S 8, Sallie E 5, and Martha S 4 mons, also Katie's mother Mary Asher 71.


Her mother Mary was living with Katie and her family when she died, and is buried close to Katie.

Gravesite Details

When entering the cemetery from the lower gate, drive up to the round-about. The markers are down the hill to the left, near the fence and small ditch.
