SCOTTSBLUFF — Carl Kling, 85, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with the Rev. Doug Human officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. He was born May 13, 1913, at Breman, Germany to George and Sophie (Stump) Kling. At an early age, he moved with his family to Scottsbluff where he grew up and received his education at rural Scottsbluff schools. He married Mildred Bauer on October 28, 1933, at Bridgeport. He worked for Great Western Sugar for 13 years before working for the City of Scottsbluff as a welder for 37 years until his retirement. In 1960, he built the time capsule which is on display at the Scottsbluff Public Library and will be opened in the year 2000. He had resided in Scottsbluff all of his life. He is survived by his wife Mildred Kling of Scottsbluff; sons and daughters-in-law Kermit and Patricia J. Kling of Scottsbluff, Bernard and Jean Kling of Oshkosh, Jerold and Linda Kling of Scottsbluff, and Gordon and Shirley Kling of Scottsbluff; daughter Nancy Shaw of Potter; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Carl Roger Kling, three brothers and three sisters.
