She was the daughter of Capt Martin H. Truesdell who commanded a Hudson River steamer. He died when she was four years old. Her mother, Jane, then married Simeon Fitch who adopted her and changed her name to Fitch.
She was survived by her son James Hazen Hyde, who had been living in Paris, France, since 1905 and Mrs Charles R. Scott, of 1149 Park Avenue.
She is buried next to her husband. In the picture of his tomb, her's can be seen next to his on the right.
